Sweetie Palette - Bandhani Indian Cotton

£8.00

An unusual south Indian cotton from Merchant & Mills with a soft and silky handle, similar to sateen. A beautiful rich emerald green that has been hand dyed using an Indian Bandhani technique with dark pink, white and yellow detail.

Bandhani is a traditional tie-dye technique where the cloth is pinched with fingernails and bound in thread. This gives the fabric lots of dots of different colours.

Please note that some of the threads may still be on the reverse of the cloth, just give it shake, and they will fall off!

This cloth would make beautiful skirts, dresses, tops and shirts. It would also be suitable for lightweight curtains.

Indian handlooms are sometimes susceptible to irregularities in the weave due to their handmade nature, this is all part of their charm and are not classed as flaws.

For the first couple of washes, place the fabric in the washing machine drum with a handful of table salt. This will help fix the dye to prevent it running.

Wash at 30 or 40 degrees with a non bio detergent. Do not tumble.
